cognos bi & reporting analyst

JOB DESCRIPTION

The BI & Reporting Analyst individual will be responsible for supporting the current Corporate Finance forecasting, planning, and statutory & Management reporting processes and will be heavily involved in the implementation of a new global planning environment.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the key customers deriving and documenting requirements related to Corporate Finance forecasting, planning, and reporting.
  • Manage the successful implementation of Corporate Finance Systems related to forecasting, planning, and reporting.
  • Provide guidance and input for BI and Corporate Planning related COGNOS Planning and COGNOS BI development.
  • Design, develop and document the Cognos related work in accordance with the standards and best practices.
  • Understand Corporate Finance’s OLAP and dimensional needs
  • Understand Corporate Finance’s Data Warehousing needs from source to target including data structures, ETL processes and reporting solutions.
  • Work closely with business and end-users to translate functional and business requirements into technical requirements.
  • Perform testing and quality assurance activities in accordance with standard best practices.
  • Assist in developing high-level and detailed requirements while presenting both technical and business facts with options to Enterprises.


REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

To be considered, candidates should posesses the following combination of skills and experience: 

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or related field preferred with minimum of 6 years experience.  Accounting Background and degree highly desirable.

  • 3+ years of Cognos BI development and migration experience

  • Hands-on Cognos Planning Development and Administration is a plus

  • Must have an understanding of relational databases; SQL querying skills and the ability to read stored procedure logic is highly desired.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Proven ability to effectively communicate ideas to business, functional, and technical audiences.

  • Strong documentation skills;

    • Business Requirements to Functional Design;

    • Developing Test Scripts.

  • Project management skills

  • Strong Reasoning and problem solving skills.

  • Self-motivator and focused on delivering technical solutions for business benefit.

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • ETL experience is a plus.
  • Previous forecast and planning support with global reporting units is highly desired.

  • Previous experience with Hyperion a plus.

 


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a permanent, full time position.  Compensation is based on the individuals combination of skill and experience and how well those coincide with the requirements of the position and will fall within a range between $85,000 to $100,000 per year. 

Candidates should have either US Citizenship, possess a valid Green Card.  Candidates with work visas requiring sponsorship will not be considered at this time.
